A Spot of Brighton

Hello reading masses, throngs of loyal followers that you are! I will be home in two weeks! We've been having a great time in Brighton, at the beach, seeing old friends, and we even made a film noir choose your own adventure movie which should be done next week, it's going to be pretty great! We're going to London tomorrow for the Royal Jubilee, so stay tuned ye Royalists!

More Pictures from Bath

A cricket match, the train line, some food and one of the cats perched on a pile of old antique drapes...it is a leisurely life we lead these days.

Bloomfield House

Back in the Queen's country just in time for some spring weather and the beginnings of an exciting summer for England with the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee (Queen's 60 Anniversary of ruling with an iron fist, wrapped in a white glove, clutching a tea cup). We've been doing such appropriate tasks as polishing brass (see picture) hanging old paintings, and cleaning chandeliers. There's also a very nice dog!

Churches of Bordeaux

We've been far too busy doing fun things to take many pictures, but I found time to sneak a few HDR shots in church. Check out the rather "modern" stained glass of St. Michel and the mindblowingly massive organ in St. Andre (St. Michel with a pretty good showing in that department as well!) and finally the wonderful architecture along the river Quai!!

Carcassonne By Night

Our Last Supper

On our last night Anneli made us an incredible and regionally exclusive meal of duck leg, potatoes, and asparagus. The duck confit came in a big tin prepared by local farmers in which the duck is preserved by being packed in its own fat. Anneli dug through the fat layers to find the meat which was then roasted in said fat, as were the incredible potatoes. As you can imagine, it tasted amazing: crispy but tender duck meat that fell right off the bone, flavor soaked roasted potatoes, and of course the tasty asparagus that is just now coming into season here. It was a perfect ending to a perfect working holiday!
